This cluster contains those technologies that support the identification of human individuals through an analysis of physical or behavioural traits. Many such systems, for example fingerprint, voice and face recognition, are currently in use and undergoing further commercial development. The various strategies are still evolving so this cluster includes technologies, both of an algorithmic and engineering nature, to improve acceptability, error rates, economics of use and effectiveness in given application scenarios amongst other key factors.
