OrbisIP signs international distribution deal with Leximancer

Innovative language search tool to be made available to Government and Military customersAustralian and British Firms in Strategic Partnership – Leximancer Pty Ltd and OrbisIP Limited(Brisbane, QLD and London, England – 2 June, 2008) In order to help to keep our nations safe, there is a growing requirement for the collation and interpretation of a vast amount of textual and spoken words.

As the amount of material to be analysed grows, the task to spot correlations in the data becomes more complex and it makes it more difficult for the authorities to plan and respond to any emerging security threats. Leximancer, a spin out company from The University of Queensland, has built technology that enables rapid and accurate interpretation of large data sets and automatically identifies key themes, concepts and ideas from unstructured text.

Early and deep analysis of large data sets enables Leximancer customers to track and action formally unassociated data.Leximancer has already been selling this technology widely into the Academic community and also has customers within the Australian Federal Government who have successfully used Leximancer to assist State and Local Police with their enquires.

In order to help take this technology to the international security market, Leximancer has appointed OrbisIP as their international Government and Military distribution partner. As recognized industry experts in Information and Homeland Security OrbisIP is ideally placed to help Leximancer to expand their technology sales and customer base around the world."We are excited to be able to work with Leximancer to help them establish international customers within the Information and Homeland Security market.

"We have seen firsthand that this technology can help organisations to make sense of a wide and complex array of diverse data sets and produce easy to interrupt analysis quickly and accurately." said Peter Jaco, OrbisIP CEO. "A big part of our job at OrbisIP is to identify and help to distribute emerging technology that can help to meet the security targets and objectives of our Nations security and defence industry. We like to work with leading Universities and the best high-tech start-ups to find the technologies major corporations and government agencies need. Leximancer is such a technology and we are looking forward to helping to distribute this technology to our global customers.

"“We are pleased to work with OrbisIP who can help us extend our reach into the international Government and Military market with our technology. We decided to focus internally on the growing requirement and interest within the commercial sector for our products and sought out a partner to help us sell our technology into areas where we had less experience.” said Neil Hartley, Leximancer CEO. “We have been impressed with OrbisIP’s network of industry contacts and relationships and they have already begun to profile our technology with some leading Security Technology companies and Government agencies. We are looking forward to working closely with OrbisIP who will also help us gain a deeper understanding of the specialist requirements of Government and Military customers.”

    About Leximancer Pty Ltd

Leximancer was established in 2005 following 7 years of R&D within the University of Queensland. The Leximancer technology allows users to extract root cause meaning from the vast amount of unstructured data currently locked within the commercial enterprise or government system. Often in the form of e-mails, service notes, call center notes, voice transcripts, qualitative survey feedback or, as an example of a “government system”, police notes, this unstructured data can be quickly and easily analysed by Leximancer’s patented software platform to provide an overview of the meaning contained and an understanding of previously unknown connections between cause and effect.
